Dr. Gail Pletnick
Superintendent, Dysart (AZ) Unified School District, and AASA President
Dr. Gail Pletnick has been the Superintendent of the Dysart Unified School District since 2007. Her experiences include serving as an Assistant Superintendent, Director of School Accountability and Analysis, Principal, plus teaching at the pre-school through higher education levels. Under Dr. Pletnick’s leadership the Dysart Unified School District has earned recognition at the state and national level, including being named as a model district by the Alliance for Excellent Education and being accepted into the League of Innovative Schools. Dr. Pletnick was recently elected as President of AASA for 2017-18 and serves as Chair of the EdLeader21 PLC Advisory Committee. She was named as 2016 Arizona Superintendent of the Year and an Education Week’s 2014 Leader to Learn From. Dr. Pletnick has been a presenter at national conferences including NSBA, AASA, and Learning Forward and is actively involved in a number of educational initiatives tied to school innovation. Dr. Pletnick earned her Ed.D. from Temple University in Administration and Policy Studies.
